We are seeking a motivated Data Governance Engineer to join our Prime Brokerage and Securities Financing Technology groups at Morgan Stanley. This role is critical to improving our data provenance and lineage capabilities across the organisation. As a Data Governance Engineer, you will play a vital role in establishing and maintaining data quality standards, documentation processes, and governance frameworks that enable better data-driven decision-making across our technology landscape.
This position offers an exceptional opportunity to learn about how different systems at Morgan Stanley interoperate while helping drive forward our comprehensive data strategy. You will be at the forefront of ensuring data integrity, compliance, and accessibility across multiple business units and technology platforms.

What You'll Do
  • Data Documentation & Analysis: Work closely with Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) to help them document and determine data governance requirements, data flows, and lineage mapping across various systems
  • Governance Framework Development: Help redefine and design governance-related tooling and processes to improve data quality and accessibility
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with senior technology stakeholders to understand the current data landscape and identify improvement opportunities
  • Data Enhancement Initiatives: Collaborate with different technology groups to not only document their data but also propose enhancements and refinements to data published into the broader organisation
  • System Integration Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of how different systems interoperate and identify opportunities for improved data flows and governance
  • Data Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain data quality standards, monitoring, and validation processes
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure data governance practices align with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Present findings and recommendations to various stakeholders across technology and business units
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve existing data governance processes and tools
  • Training & Knowledge Transfer: Help educate teams on data governance best practices and tooling

  • Interest in Prime Brokerage business: Demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm for understanding the Prime Brokerage domain, including its operational processes, client services, and technology landscape
